Toyota kompānija zaudēja lieliskas izredzes izcīnīt savu pirmo uzvaru Lemānas 24 stundu sacīkstē, kad pēdējās minūtēs Kazuki Nakadžimas #5 TS050 modelim pazuda jauda. Tādejādi jau otro gadu pēc kārtas Lemānā uzvarēja Porsche komanda.
Vēl 10 minūtes pirms 24 stundu sacīkstes finiša Nakadžimas pārsvars vadībā bija 1 minūte un 24 sekundes, tomēr uzvara tika zaudēta tehnisku problēmu dēļ un pārsvaru noturēt neizdevās. Nīls Jani ar #2 Porsche 919 Hybrid apsteidza Nakadžimu un vēl pēc viena apļa jau sasniedza finišu.
Lai gan sākotnēji Nakadžima apstājās trasē, viņam izdevās turpināt sacīksti un Toyota sasniedza finišu otrajā pozīcijā, tomēr vēlāk #5 ekipāža tika izslēgta no rezultātiem, jo pēdējais aplis bija pārāk lēns, lai mašīna tiktu klasificēta. Tādejādi uz otro vietu pacēlās otra Toyota ekipāža ar #6, kamēr uz trešo vietu negaidīti pacēlās arī ātrākā/izturīgākā no Audi ekipāžām, tādejādi pagarinot Audi goda pjedestālu sēriju Lemānā, kas sākās vēl 1999.gadā. Audi #7 ekipāžai radās problēmas ar turbo, kas bija jānomaina, bet #8 ekipāža 20.stundā saskārās ar bremžu defektu.
LMP2 kategorijā pirmo uzvaru Lemānā izcīnīja Signatech Alpine komanda, kuras sastāvā startēja Nikolā Lapjērs, Stīvens Rikelmi un Gustāvo Menezes, kuri vadību savā kategorijā pārņēma svētdienas rītā.
Savukārt GTE Pro klasē nelika vilties ilgi gaidītā Ferrari un Ford divcīņa. Amerikāņu kompānijai, kas šogad atgiezās Lemānā ar četrām ekipāžām un lielām ambīcijām, izdevās pārliecinoša uzvara, turklāt tika ieņemta arī trešā un ceturtā vieta kategorijā.
